A working kitchen in the common room serves as a wonderful teaching tool. The kitchen is used for thematic activities, such as structured play, as well as to bake "thank you" items for others at school and for community service projects.

As a pre-cursor to Peck's family dining program, Kindergarten students eat their lunch together "family style" in the kindergarten commons. Once a week, they are visited by Lower School Spanish Teacher, Adriana Sykora, for "Vamos A Comer" - a Spanish language only lunch session.

The Kindergarten Commons contains ample floorspace and flexible furniture to accommodate family members during seasonal plays, performances, and thematic activities. Guest speakers are frequently invited to speak with the students and a weekly "mystery reader" visits once a week to share a favorite story.

The elevated stage is utilized two times a year for kindergarten holiday plays, as well performances and public speaking opportunities. The stage is also a creative space for show and tell, morning meeting, assembly reading, and other activities. Kindergarten teachers dedicate special time each week - both indoors and outdoors for structured "creative play."
