Title: Already Written Inside Dimensions: 11” x 17” Year: 2022 Price: $400 **Kimberly Hart** My current work is cyanotype-based prints on paper. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic process developed in 1842. It is one of the oldest photographic printing processes. Creating cyanotypes is magical. I print with collaged photo negatives on fabric. Each piece has an element of mystery, chance, and failure. The creation of each piece captivates me as much as the end work. In this series, I am exploring how my experiences coupled with my family history made me who I am today.

Title: Rainy Self-Portrait Dimensions: 16x12 Material:Print of soft pastel on canvas Price: $150 **Jodi Nuttall** I rarely paint portraits, much less a self-portrait. Looking through a filter of rain is a metaphor for how health issues can color everything. At this stage in my life, I’m reflecting on who I am, what I’ve accomplished, why I’m here and what’s still left to do. I am hidden behind dark glasses, a veil in addition to the rain, hiding from myself as well. The streaks of rain create fissures in what is more of an automaton than a person. I learned a few things while painting this, not the big life questions, but it’s a start.
**SEE ME** The Arts in Medicine program is pleased to present See Me, an exhibition organized by the Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art (ALWCA). This exhibition, on display through March, showcases the visual representations of how each of the 11 artists see themselves. The artists, all members of ALWCA, were asked to visually depict how they see themselves. In this selfie-saturated age, the artists were not limited to traditional or classic self-representation but were encouraged to include what they wanted to share about themselves at this point in their life. We hope that as you view the art on display and read the words of each artist, you might connect with some aspects of each representation and embrace your own self and your unique identity. The Alabama Women’s Caucus for Art, a chapter of the national Women’s Caucus for Art organization, has a mission to create community through art, education, and social activism and to promote women’s contributions to the arts. For more information about ALWCA, please visit www.alwca.org. Artwork with a price on the label is available for purchase at the end of the exhibition. To inquire about purchasing, please email Melissa Lawson, AIM Coordinator at Melissa.lawson@hhsys.org.
Title: The artist in me Dimensions: 16" x 16.25" Material: Colored pencil with metal gears, wood piano parts, photograph, screws and nails. Year: 2023 Price: NFS **Susie Garrett** A win or a loss; accepted or rejected; sales or no sales. This dichotomy of emotions that all artists experience is like being on a circus ride. My piece, The artist in me, represents this ride. These ups and downs influence us but they don’t define us. Relish in the excitement of a win, acknowledge the disappointment of a loss; then move on. Learn from each. For me, these words ring true but easier said than done. Disappointments can derail me and I lose site of my goals. I strive to remain positive, keep on making.
