Mcclaygnd 0002

The statue in front of the McClay Library is called Eco and was created by the Breton artist Marc Didou. It is made of bronze and is 2.5m tall. The piece is made in response to the artist's investigation of digital imaging techniques and represents the reflection of a head refracted in water and the sonic echo used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A sculpture from the same series can be seen outside the University of Turin in Italy. The sculpture was funded through the University's Centenary Fund and the Estates Office, Ulsterbank, and donations from the Graduate Associations.
