Glaciers on the Move: Tunabreen glacier on Svalbard. Taken during its surge in 2018. Marine life in the fjords water is limited by the freshwater full of sediments coming straight from the glacier. Light struggles to penetrate this upper layer rich in glacial flour. The magic of fertilization happens a few kilometers further down the line, when the sediments decant, and light can finally help the phytoplankton to grow and do photosynthesis. @glaciersonthemove
