Josef Svoboda, his Atelier in Prague, 2020 The GASK gallery in Kutná Hora currently shows an extraordinary exhibition reminiscent of the world-renowned Czech scenographer Josef Svoboda (1920-2002), who influenced the visuality of the theater and by using modern technologies set new standards of stage design. Svoboda´s originality arouses admiration until present. He created more than 600 scenographies for important domestic and world theater stages and collaborated with a number of famous directors, conductors and choreographers, e.g. Leonard Bernstein, Laurence Olivier or Roland Petit. He stood for many innovations and patents that are still being used. The non-profit company Josef Svoboda – scenographer, composed of family members, friends and collaborators of the famous stage designer, created an exhibition that maps Svoboda’s creative career, gives an insight into his creative process and presents some important elements of Svoboda’s stage solutions in a multimedia form. The originally planned duration of the exhibition in the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK) in Kutná Hora was extended until March 28, 2021.
