----------------------------------------------------------------------- Located in the municipal area of Manilva, the Castillo de la Duquesa or Fortín de Sabinillas was built to protect this large anchorage, close to Gibraltar, in the years when it was about recovering this square militarily, during the war against England because of the called "Family Pact". In 1767, D. Francisco Paulino, a resident of Seville, paid for its construction, to whom Carlos III, as a prize, granted the favor and retribution of command of a cavalry company. Installed on a Roman villa, whose material was reused for its construction, the archaeological material of the Museum comes largely from this archaeological site of Roman origin. It is made up of hot springs, a town, fish-salting industries and a necropolis, it surrounds the Museum headquarters building, the Castle itself. In addition, the Museum contributes materials from the archaeological site of Cerro del Castillo or Castillejos de Alcorrín, a site from the indigenous or Precolonial Final Bronze Age, an authentic large-scale fortress that must have brought together a large group of individuals. Large circular towers and a large wall surround the entire enclosure. The moments with the greatest archaeological potential are exhibited in the Museum, which in chronological order will be Prehistory, Rome and the Middle Ages. Schedule Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Price Free entrance. https://turismomanilva.com/turismo/castillo-de-la-duquesa-museo-arqueologico-municipal-de-manilva/
