I was fortunate to be able to observe The Republic of Singapore Air Force's 127 SQN in action recently and managed to squeeze some time to do this piece, imagining being in the CH-47 Chinook doing the flypast with the state flag over the Floating Platform where a Parade and Ceremony is being held for this year's National Day. 127 SQN is also celebrating 25 years of CH-47 operations this year. Have to take a bit of artistic license: the ramp is usually not open during the fly past and Snowy and the TIE Fighter Pilot aren't on-board too. For the folks who know what are the references, you will know The flying fishes is a motif from "The Road Ahead" Music Video by Finding Pictures. I was lucky to be able to reference images taken from the visit and had to look through quite a number of aerial shots of the Floating Platform. Thankfully, the avid aircraft photographers and the staycation/ SHN guests of Ritz Carlton, Marina Bay Sands and visitors to Singapore Flyer have been really helpful with several images available online via social media and Google Map reviews for reference. *not the actual flypast #SingaporeIllustrators #127SQN #TheRSAF #PokPokSingapore #Illustration #LeeXinLi #Chinook #NDP2021 #TogetherOurSGSpirit
